Drain Repairs & Relining — No-Dig Solutions Where Possible

Cracked, collapsed, or leaking drains don't fix themselves. We diagnose the problem with CCTV, explain what needs doing and why, and carry out the repair — no-dig relining where it's the right solution, excavation where it isn't.

Your Local Drainage is based in Bournemouth and carries out drain repairs for domestic and commercial properties across England and Wales. We work on everything from a single cracked joint to a full drain replacement.

Drain Repair Methods

The right repair method depends on the type of damage, the pipe material, the depth, and what it would cost to excavate versus reline. We assess properly before recommending anything.

Drain Relining (No-Dig)

A structural liner is inserted into the damaged pipe and cured in place — creating a new pipe within the old one without any excavation. Suitable for cracks, fractures, and deteriorating pipe walls where the pipe is still broadly in position. Often significantly cheaper than excavation.

Patch Lining

Where only a short section of pipe is damaged, a patch liner can be applied to that section rather than relining the full run. More targeted and cost-effective for isolated defects.

Pipe Replacement (Excavation)

Where a pipe has collapsed, been crushed, or is significantly misaligned, excavation and replacement is sometimes the only practical option. We carry this out where it's genuinely the right solution — not as a default.

Joint Repair and Resealing

Where joints have pulled apart or cracked seals are allowing groundwater ingress or effluent leakage, targeted joint repair addresses the problem without replacing the whole pipe.

What Drain Problems We Fix

Cracked and fractured pipes

Cracks in clay, concrete, or plastic pipe allow groundwater to enter and sewage to escape. Both are problems — infiltration increases hydraulic load, exfiltration contaminates surrounding ground.

Displaced or open joints

Joints that have pulled apart allow root intrusion and material loss. Common in areas with significant tree cover or ground movement.

Pipe collapse

A section of pipe that has collapsed completely. Usually requires excavation and replacement.

Pipe deformation and sagging

Flexible plastic pipes can deform over time under ground loading. Sagging sections create low points where silt accumulates, causing recurring blockages.

Root intrusion damage

After root removal, the entry points remain. Relining seals them and restores the pipe's structural integrity.

Pitch fibre pipe deterioration

Pitch fibre pipes — common in properties built between the 1950s and 1980s — deform, blister, and delaminate over time. Relining is usually the most cost-effective solution.

How We Carry Out Drain Repairs

We don't quote for repairs without looking at the pipe. Every repair job starts with a CCTV survey to confirm the exact location, extent, and nature of the damage.

1.

CCTV Survey

We pass a camera through the drain to see exactly what's there — not an estimate based on symptoms.

2.

Diagnosis And Recommendation

We don't quote for repairs without looking at the pipe. Every repair job starts with a CCTV survey to confirm the exact location, extent, and nature of the damage.

3.

Repair Carried Out

The agreed repair is carried out. No work starts without your go-ahead.

4.

Post-Repair Survey

After the repair is complete, we re-survey with the camera to confirm the work is right and the pipe is structurally sound.

FAQS

Drain Repairs — Common Questions

  • How much does drain repair cost?

  • Is drain relining as good as replacing the pipe?

A properly installed structural liner creates a new pipe within the old one with a smooth bore and no joints. In many cases it outperforms the original — particularly for older clay or pitch fibre pipes. Relining has a typical design life of 50+ years.

  • Will drain relining work on my pipe?

Relining works on most pipe materials and sizes. It requires the pipe to be broadly in the right position and reasonably clean before lining. A CCTV survey confirms whether relining is suitable for your specific drain.

  • How long does drain relining take?

Most residential relining jobs are completed in a single day. Larger commercial jobs take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we've assessed the job.

  • Do I need planning permission for drain repairs?

In most cases, no. Drain repairs within your property boundary are maintenance work and don't require planning permission. We'll advise if anything else applies to your specific job.

  • What's the difference between relining and repair?

Drain relining is one type of drain repair — a no-dig method that creates a new pipe inside the existing one. The broader term covers all methods: relining, patch lining, excavation and replacement, and joint repair.
